Thanks for this webinar! I feel a bit disconcerted that the very important issues of the effects of AI usage in education, had your panelists uncertain and floundering, to a certain extent. The reality that the student (or even the developing child) will be able to access a tool for performing all the tasks necessary for doing the essential inferencing processes for learning, without their actual involvement. The student has no exposure to the tasks of data gathering, reading & comprehension and then the tasks of applying logic for inferring valid connections, based on the efficiency of the two preceding tasks. Beyond laying the foundations of basic education for language use and numeracy, advancing education relies on engaging with these tasks as the actual process of learning and refining of mental skills. Your panelists are somewhat aware of this threat, and both seemed to imply a solution based on reducing children's (or Gen Z's) access to technology. This should be a red flag for anyone involved in education and hopefully for the companies making the AI tools available.
